Top awesome moments from the Predator movies.

The predator flicks have some wicked parts that make the movies as bad ass as they are. Here's a couple of kick ass moments.

The Trophy case
Predator 2 had some wicked parts in the movie but the ending in the ship was awesome for a few reasons but the trophy case was the highlight. Its also one of the tease's of Aliens vs Predator with the Xenomorph skull among all the other alien species and monsters it had stalked and killed. This case displayed how much Predators love the hunt and how many different species they have slain across the cosmos.

Spinal tap
So in Predators Stans manages to distract the Berserker hunter long enough for the others escape but is quickly over powered buy the Yuatja hunter. In one swift movement the hunter pulls Stans spine and skull from the cons body showing us just how Bad these Badbloods are.

Recharging
The City Hunter has slaughtered a whole bunch of people on the subway train and needs to recharge his power and is so bad ass he use's a lightening storm recharge his power pack and use's his spear as a conductor.

Falling
The opening of Predators was the most striking in any movie. We open to have our hero Royce falling from high altitude drop and he has no idea how he got there. The shoot only then opens a few meters before Royce hits the ground with a smack then boom the opening titles.

Code of combat
So Dutch's teams been slaughtered and he has failed in his attempts at killing the hunter with more basic weapons. No face to helmet with the dreadful hunter he awaits to be killed only for his foe to remove its weapons and helmet exposing himself to being one ugly motherfucker.

Time out
So after an intense battle with Danny Glover where it gets trapped and trys to blow its self up the city hunter loses its arm and is riddled with shotgun pellets. After falling a few stories it end up in the bathroom of an as to do makeshift first aid with some plasterboard and corrosive liquid. What transpires is a painful insight into predator medicine.

Hanzo last stand
Okay in Predator we got a tease of an awesome battle between Billy and the Predator but nope we dont see it. Then in Predator 2 we get another tease of  an awesome fight between King Willie and the City Hunter alas we dont see it either. In Predators we finally get an awesome predator sword fight between Hanzo and the Falconer hunter. There tune is even a eastern twist on the Billy's last stand music.

The last laugh
So Dutch finally gets the better of the jungle hunter and is about to cave its head in with a rock. He makes the mistake of pausing when the yautja hunter starts laughing in the voice of Billy and activates his nuclear self destruct. Leaving Arnie to outrun the atomic blast and not having finished the creature off himself.

Aliens: LV-426

I just recently come across a rather intresting Aliens fan movie that dosent feature any xenomorphs or action but focus's on an Adult newt returning to LV-426. From what I can tell its in Portuguese but has subtitles and while not action based is very touching and would have been amazing to see in a completed form.

Why Predator 2 is an awesome movie.

Alot of people give Predator alot of stick and I cant see why. Not the best of movies buy any major leap but still a decent flick and one that really flesh's out Yautja culture. The setting puts the hunter in the concrete jungle and show what a beast like this does when hunting in a urban setting would be like. I mean this think take's out a tube train while its moving.

While the characters are some what hammy and Glover is no where a decent replacement Arnold's Dutch and the gangster subplot disposable at best. The special effects are awesome for the time. We see the predator do some savage damage in cloaked from in the penthouse and the subway train. We learn the yautja  hunting patterns and more about his code and honor. Sparing the kids in the graveyard and Leona when she was with child showed that this was no mindless monster, a hunter, a tribes man, a part of something bigger and more older then the human race.

The ending along with the comic's intoduced us to the concept of Yautja hunting xenomorph. The skull inclusion in that trophy case was no throw away idea. The appearance of the rest of the clan yet again proves the predators society is tribal and that this hunter is a novice cutting his teeth. It also displays their code as when Glover fells the city hunter he is rewarded with a trophy himself.
As I stated not a great film but still pretty action packed and clever to show people what goes on in the head of the galaxy's most dangerous hunters.

Game over man Review: Predator Concrete Jungle

Released for the PS2 and Xbox back in 2005  this sweet action game lets you take control of a disgraced Yautja hunter who must return to earth after a botched hunt one hundred years before allows pred tech to fall into human hand.
The game bounces from 1930 to 2030 in a setting called New Way City. The Predator called Scarface must destroy the crime family who;s empire was built buy harnessing predator tech and in doing so regain his honor.

Gameplay is fun and if I had to I'd compare it to Crackdown as you must fight various gangs using both brute force and savage predator weapons. Foe include different Gangs scattered through out the city, the police force, company mercs, Ninja's, brainwashed cyborg Predators and a handful of others one group of which you'll love.

This story was written buy Grant Morrison which shows as the plot dosent come up short and there fantasitc references to the likes of  Predator one and two, Alien and AVP.  There extras and little easter eggs in the bonus menus would put some xbox 360 and PS3 games to shame. This is a Predator fans holy grail and  shows how much love was put into this game.

The down side is two things. This game is bastard hard. You will die a fucking lot in this game and one of the main reasons will be...the fucking camera. This will kill you more then any trigger happy foe. you can try and adjust and control it buy it will alway turn in the wrong direction.
That siad reguardless of its flaws this game is a must for Predator or Alien fans who have a PS2 or an Xbox.

Dark Horse Comic review: Predator Big Game

Right so its Yautja month I'll be reviewing some of Dark horse awesome Predator comic's starting with Big Game.  While there are others with far more impressive Art styles and stories Big Game captures the feel and spirit of the Predator movies.

Set in small town of Cole New Mexico a community near an army base a Predator Craft lands and its pilot decides to bag some game. A local grunt Enoch Nakai is embroiled in a battle of wits with the savage Yautja hunter and when his army training fails he puts his skills as a Indian Brave into use to tackle the hunter from the stars.

The art work buy Evan Dorkin isnt great but isnt bad either. The Predator looks awesome and the landscape  epic but the humans could have been drawn much better. John Arcudi's story while nothing groundbreaking is primal and tense and he does however make Enoch a really fleshed out character with a rich backstory which lends its self to the conflict. The story's climax is pure raw testosterone driven and kinda hints in a cheeky way what might have happened if Billy not Dutch survived to duke it out with the predator.

I was lucky and came across an early collected edition and two singles with the awesome Chris Warner covers. You can also find this story in the Predator Omnibus volume Two. Pick it up if you can because it is one of the more action packed and well crafted Predator stories.

The Riverghost

The movie predators was the flick that saved my faith in all the sci-fi horror reboots that came out in in the recent years. ((Damn you Prometheus)) The Movie had the look and feel of the classic predators movies but also introduced some new things and even new creature like the hounds and and the Badblood predators but the wickedest thing I think the movie introduced was the RiverGhost.

While AVP showed us the the Predators did indeed hunt other creatures bar humans, xenos and Pred's went together like cake and Ice-cream. Yet Predators show us that  Yautja would hunt in the words of Noland "shit you wouldnt believe"

The Riverghost as named buy Nimrod Antel is a 7 foot tall bipedal insect like being that can move a extreme speeds and seems to be very aggressive. The creatures level of intelligence is hard to judge as Royce states it avoided their traps but it seemed to chase after Edwin with a more primal aggression. The beast seemed to have parasites which cleaned its wounds and kept it alive however when it died the bugs fleed its body.
It unsure if this species was aware of the Predator race and had it been hunted before as Royce also states that it might think they captured it.

One final note is the design seems to be a throw back to the rejected design for the first predator movie and while they did do a fairly wicked job on this creature you can still tell that its a homage to the rejected predator costume.
